I've use ProBoards for a long while, though I never really liked the fact that you had no control over the backend of the forum - let alone you never really owned the content posted on your forum, so you couldn't really export it out.
Personally, I like having those options. The option to have my own domain, with my own email, with the ability to manage my own backups and my own databases. ProBoards doesn't give you that, and you're really limited on how much you can expand your forum on ProBoards - because most of the time, the only real members you'll ever get would be part of the ProBoards community themselves.

Proboards is pretty good; I'm on a Walking Dead RP board that's PB-hosted and its' a pretty good place; took me a little bit of time to get used to the PB system and all, but its' pretty good. I have my own forum, Conversations, which is over on the Zetaboards platform; I like it a lot because its' easy to use (almost turnkey-like), there's lots of themes and skins to choose from and its' a free system.
